Glowly does not require an account. We store limited information needed to operate the features you choose to use.

Quizzes and games

Solo quiz and Would You Rather answers are processed in your browser and are not saved to a Glowly account. We use Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Web Analytics to understand visits and product use. Analytics events can include page or quiz identifiers, game actions, and challenge scores; they do not include your quiz answers, names, letter text, or challenge answer selections. Analytics providers may use browser identifiers or similar technologies according to their configuration.

Friend challenges

Creating or taking a challenge stores display names, answer selections, server-verified scores, and timestamps in our database. Anyone with a challenge link can see the creator's display name and the participant leaderboard names and scores. Challenge answers are stored to calculate scores. Do not use identifying or sensitive information in a display name.

Letters

If you use Letters, this browser creates an anonymous device key. We store that key with letters, mood/category choices, and responses so the feature can show community letters and your activity. Do not include names, contact details, or other identifying information in a letter.

You can permanently delete the Letters and responses associated with this browser from Letters → My light → Delete my Letters data. This does not delete friend-challenge records, which are stored separately.

Safety reports

Community letters can be reported for review. Reports are stored with the content type, content identifier, report reason, the reporting browser's anonymous key, and submission time. Analytics records only that a report action occurred; it does not receive the report reason, identifier, or content. If a moderator removes a letter, its text and attached responses are deleted; report records do not currently have an automatic expiration period.

Retention and questions

Letters and response data is retained until you delete it or it is removed after a safety review. Challenge records currently do not have a self-service deletion control or an automatic expiration period. Avoid sharing information you would not want visible to anyone with the challenge link.
